Our view
“Jingo” aims Discworld’s humour at war fever, and its jokes about patriotism and politics are as cutting as any in the series. The City Watch are good company throughout. Some readers think it runs long, with side plots it could lose and a story that sprawls, and a few feel the anti-war message is pressed too hard. Admirers of the Watch novels will still have plenty to enjoy.
