Our view
The third Discworld novel is short, light and consistently funny. Its real gift to the series is Granny Weatherwax, already unmistakably herself, alongside a young heroine whose stubborn curiosity is a pleasure to follow as she pushes against a wizards’ world closed to girls. Some readers find the plot simple and the ending rushed and underwhelming. Fine for newcomers who want the wit.
