Our view
“Carpe Jugulum” pits the Discworld witches against vampires and comes out darker and more thoughtful than the comic setup suggests. Granny Weatherwax is at the centre, and for some readers this is the series at its most intense, with real philosophical weight beside the jokes. Others rank it below the earlier witch novels, find the ending drawn out, or object to how a fat female character is written.
