Our view
The best asset of “The Wishsong of Shannara”, a classic quest fantasy, is its pair of sibling heroes. In the original trilogy’s last novel, Jair and Brin Ohmsford each inherit a magic and must defend the Four Lands against the dark power of a book, the Ildatch. Some readers praise the characters; others find the plot too close to “The Sword of Shannara” and the genre’s familiar pattern, with its better moments arriving late.
