Our view
“Angel Fire East” rounds off Terry Brooks’s “Word & Void” trilogy with a solid piece of small-town contemporary fantasy set at Christmas. Ten years after “A Knight of the Word”, Nest Freemark and John Ross return to Hopewell, Illinois, to unlock a magic that could change the world, and the book lays groundwork for the Shannara saga. Some readers find one of the supporting characters grating. The first two volumes should come first.
