Editor’s note The Shannara saga runs to dozens of books. The Sword of Shannara is the most read but his lowest rated, often called too close to Tolkien; The Elfstones of Shannara, which stands alone, is the better place to start. Later series rate higher, among them The Heritage of Shannara and the Genesis of Shannara books that link our world to his. Landover is his lighter, comic series.
