Our view
“Sea of Swords” closes the “Paths of Darkness” sequence of the Drizzt books with a seafaring quest full of pirates and old friendships. Salvatore lets the companions grow more rounded than before, and the long build-up keeps the stakes rising. Some readers find the story simple and the final battle over too quickly after so much preparation. Thirteenth in the long Drizzt saga, it suits readers already attached to these companions.
