Our view

“Siege of Darkness” brings full-scale war to “The Legend of Drizzt”, as a drow army marches on the heroes and their allies. Some readers find it grander and more absorbing than the volumes before it, with humour running through the fighting. Some think the great battle the whole book leads up to disappoints, strains belief, or is undercut by an excess of comic turns. Salvatore’s action scenes still win praise from some of them.
