Our view
“The Black Unicorn” is a light, adventurous return to Landover, where Ben Holiday must defend his crown against the wizard Meeks. A mythical creature turns up in the kingdom and puts a mystery at its heart. Some readers enjoy its humour; others feel it lacks the magic of the first book and that the ending is rushed, though a new feline character wins them over.
