Books about ghosts

Books haunted by the dead: restless spirits, friendly ghosts, houses that remember what happened in them. Some are frightening, like Stephen King's The Shining, others are tender and strange, like Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book, where a boy is raised by the residents of a cemetery. Coraline and Jim Butcher's Ghost Story show how differently the same idea can be used.
