Our view
“The Vampire Armand” gives a familiar figure of “The Vampire Chronicles” a full and absorbing life story, human years included. The sixth volume fills out a past only sketched in an earlier book, and readers drawn to Armand value this portrait of someone who measures everything by suffering. Some find Anne Rice’s prose long-winded and the theology wearying, and others are repelled by what they read as the sexualisation of a very young character.
