Our view
“Blood Canticle” is a novel for committed Anne Rice readers, closing a story of vampires and Mayfair witches begun two books earlier. Many readers find Lestat’s chatty narration, full of asides and overwrought arguments, more grating than entertaining, and the plot thin. Some struggle to follow it without “Merrick” and “Blackwood Farm”. Those devoted to Lestat will still want to see how the two worlds meet.
