Our view
“Blackwood Farm” is an atmospheric instalment of “The Vampire Chronicles” in which Anne Rice brings her vampires together with the Mayfair witches. Some readers stay for Rice’s prose, her swamps and her old manor house while finding the first half slow and missing a payoff for several threads. Others are disturbed by the sexualisation of a fifteen-year-old girl. At over six hundred pages, it is mainly for those already invested in the cycle.
