Our view
“Memnoch the Devil” takes “The Vampire Chronicles” into theology: a dark, reflective journey through Heaven, Hell and Creation. In this fifth volume the Devil offers Lestat a place at his side. Some readers enjoy the opening chapters and the ending but find the long middle a sermon, and some are put off by its religious preoccupations. A book for those drawn to questions of faith more than to vampire adventure.
