“The Pillars of Creation”, seventh in “The Sword of Truth”, hands the story to a new lead: a volume for readers already committed to the series. Richard Rahl appears, but no longer at the centre, and some readers feel the book drifts from the main plot and adds little to it. Some also find the ending contrived and the tone preachy; attachment to Goodkind’s characters is what keeps others reading.
