“Mirror Dance” is the darkest turn of “The Vorkosigan Saga”, an adventure that becomes a harrowing study of trauma. Bujold keeps the danger and momentum of the earlier adventures, then follows Mark into severe physical and psychological suffering and treats it with care. Readers are shaken by it and admire how well so heavy a subject is handled. It won the Hugo and Locus awards; anyone wary of such scenes should know what is coming.

Mirror Dance is a Hugo- and Locus-award-winning science fiction novel by Lois McMaster Bujold. Part of the Vorkosigan Saga, it was first published by Baen Books in March 1994, and is included in the 2002 omnibus Miles Errant.
