Books about soldiers

Books told from the ranks: soldiers, officers and recruits who carry the weight of war. Ender's Game follows a child trained to command fleets, Steven Erikson's Memories of Ice marches the Bridgeburners through a brutal campaign, and Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See follows a young German soldier in the Second World War. Joe Abercrombie's The Heroes tells one battle from many sides.
