Our view
“Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance” gives Ivan Vorpatril, long a comic foil in the “Vorkosigan Saga”, a funny and charming novel of his own. His romance with Tej, a refugee from Jackson’s Whole, is quiet and sweet, and some readers enjoy watching events through two fairly ordinary people, even if the plot goes nowhere much for them; others call it tight. A late volume of the saga, it is best met after the earlier ones.
