Our view

“Blood Promise” is a slow, grief-heavy fourth volume that, for some readers, only comes alive in its second half. Rose goes to Russia in search of Dimitri, bound by the pact they made, and a long stretch of mourning and new acquaintances comes before the action and revelations. Others find her pining and recklessness hard to bear, or see the book as filler. Only for those already committed to “Vampire Academy”.

About the book

Blood Promise is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Previously in the series, the main character, Rose, and her true love Dimitri made a pact that if either of them were turned into strigoi, the other would kill them rather than let them roam as an evil vampire. Blood Promise follows Rose's emotional struggle as she travels to Russia to hunt down Dimitri and fulfill this promise.
