Our view
“Night Mare” is an inventive sixth Xanth novel that makes a creature of bad dreams its heroine. Exiled to the waking world, she carries a dire warning while barbarians from Mundania threaten the land and the Magicians of Xanth are its only hope. It reads best after the earlier books of a very long series. Readers who already know Xanth will find its familiar blend of magic and war.
