Penric's Demon

Lois McMaster Bujold’s “Penric’s Demon” is a light, good-humoured novella that sets up the “Penric and Desdemona” series. It is mostly the story of Penric meeting his demon and growing used to her, and the comedy of that pairing turns to real feeling by the last page. Some readers find the opening slow and the plot simple, and note that the later novellas grow more complex.
