Our view
“Penric’s Mission” is an engaging instalment of the Penric and Desdemona novellas, adding conspiracy to the series’ magic and demons. Some readers value it less for surprises than for its likeable characters and an author who knows how to tell a story. As the third novella, and the one whose events continue in “Mira’s Last Dance”, it is best read by those who have already met Penric and his demon.
