Our view
“Marlfox” is a spirited Redwall adventure whose villains, a clan of uncanny, scheming foxes, give it real menace. Some readers notice that it strays a little from the usual Redwall pattern, yet still enjoy it as a classic quest full of friends and foes. It was the eleventh book published and stands thirteenth in the series’ own chronology, with a mood darker and more mysterious than its animal cast might suggest.
