“Treasure” is a large-scale Dirk Pitt adventure in which a hunt for ancient Egyptian riches runs into a terrorist plot. Over six hundred pages, the ninth book of the series piles one danger on another, a hijacked cruise ship with two presidents aboard among them, and that escalation is the book’s main draw. Some find the hero’s rugged looks and manliness underlined so insistently that it grows awkward.
