Our view
“The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” is a quick, witty children’s tale that skips from encounter to encounter and reports occasional violence without fuss. Adults who arrive by way of the film may find it plainer than they expected, and Dorothy’s road home is longer. It works best read aloud to children, or as a short look at where the story began.

About the book
Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies. One day the house is caught up in a cyclone and carried into the land of the Munchkins, who send her to find the great wizard of Oz, in the city of Emeralds. The adventures that follow belong right into the treasure chest of American childrens’ literature.
