Our view
“The Harlequin” is a fifteenth Anita Blake novel mixing horror, mystery and erotica, and one for readers already deep in the series. Some readers find a better balance here between the investigation, the characters and the sex scenes than in the previous volume, though they are put off by passages where the plot stops for moral lecturing; others feel the final chapters pull hard. Newcomers should start the series from its first book.
