Our view
“The Fever Code” goes back before “The Maze Runner” to the early lives of the first Gladers, and some readers call it the best of the series. A prequel might seem to have no surprises left, yet its closing pages and epilogue upset what readers thought they knew. Some love the warmth of the first two hundred pages and find the last third weaker. It assumes the earlier books have been read.
