Our view

“The Kill Order” is a prequel for readers who want to know how the world of “The Maze Runner” came apart. Set thirteen years before the first book, it is a survival story at the end of the world, of interest for what it reveals about the Flare. Some find the characters flat, the pace slow and the closing twist easy to guess; it is best read after the first three books.
