Our view
“Ramona the Pest” looks at kindergarten from the child’s side, and is funny and truthful about it. It covers Ramona’s first months at school, including her impatience with how slow everyone else seems, a feeling some readers remember sharing. Others dislike that her tantrums get her what she wants. At under two hundred pages, it is sized for young children and the adults reading with them.

Other artists have since illustrated subsequent editions of Ramona the Pest, including Alan Tiegreen, Tracy Dockray, and Jacqueline Rogers.
