Editor’s note American children’s writer who lived to 104 and wrote about ordinary kids with rare honesty and humour. Her Ramona books follow a spirited, often misunderstood girl growing up on Klickitat Street in Portland; Beezus and Ramona is the most read. The Ralph S. Mouse books, about a hotel mouse who rides a toy motorcycle, include her highest rated, Runaway Ralph. Her scores sit very close together, so any is a safe choice.
