Our view
“Dead to the World” is the fourth Southern Vampire Mysteries novel and, for some readers, the one where the series hits its stride. A coven of witches wipes the vampire Eric’s memory and leaves him in Sookie’s care, and it is this Eric who wins hearts. Some even recommend the book as a place to start, since its story stands well enough alone.
