Our view
“Clouds of Witness” is a witty second case for Lord Peter Wimsey, set among the English aristocracy of the 1920s. Sayers follows the affair into the courtroom, and some readers relish that blend of humour, upper-class manners and legal drama. Others are irritated by dialogue written out phonetically in regional accents, or rank it among the weaker Wimsey novels while still preferring it to most of the genre.
