Our view

“Bitterblue” is a dark, tense third Graceling Realm novel, and some readers single out the realism of its relationships. They also praise the questions its heroine keeps asking and the place it gives to gay characters. Some find the message of equality pressed too hard, above all at the end, and the early chapters more tangled than they need to be. It comes after “Graceling” and “Fire”.
