Our view
“Across the Green Grass Fields” writes honestly about growing up different, among the centaurs and unicorns of another world. Regan finds a family there, and McGuire’s real subjects are friendship, acceptance and the hope she holds out to young readers. Followers of “Wayward Children” often place this sixth book below the earlier ones, and some find it light on action or wish it were longer.
