Our view
Trauma and the cost of running away are the subject of “Where the Drowned Girls Go”, a dark, lyrical novella. Some readers rank it below the first volumes, if above the more recent ones, and admit they did not fully follow what happens at the second school. Seventh in the “Wayward Children” series, it follows Cora and expects the reader to know the earlier books.

Where the score comes from
The sources average 8.2 across 145 ratings — not yet many, so the reader vote carries 50% of the weight and the rest pulls toward the Fantasy average of 8.0. That is how 8.2 comes out. A further +0.10 comes from the small bonus for major awards.
