Our view
“A Crown of Swords”, seventh of the fifteen Wheel of Time books, splits readers. Some feel the pace slacken as Jordan gives more room to exposition and description, and date the series’ long middle from here; others count it among the better volumes, with Rand, Mat and Perrin all given room and Mat’s chapters genuinely funny. Some readers also object to the way the books write women. Only for those well into the series.
