Our view
“Women in Love” is an intense, searching novel about two sisters and the men they are drawn to, set during the First World War. Ursula and Gudrun Brangwen become entangled with Rupert Birkin and Gerald. Some readers are struck by the twists and by how their sympathies shift among the four leads; others are amused by Birkin’s habit of philosophising about love. It can be read without “The Rainbow”, though the sisters’ background lies there.

About the book
Lawrence's Women in Love tells the story of two sisters who pursue romantic relationships during the time of the first world war. Women in Love is a sequel to Lawrence's earlier novel, The Rainbow, and, like many of his novels, caused controversy due to it's sexual subject matter. This Xist Classics edition has been professionally formatted for e-readers with a linked table of contents. This eBook also contains a bonus book club leadership guide and discussion questions.
