“What Feasts at Night” is a short return to Alex Easton, with a narrator some readers are glad to rejoin and a fuller picture of Gallacia. Some miss the first book’s quasi-scientific menace now that the threat is supernatural, and others wish more of its brief length went to the horror at the hunting lodge instead of to local customs. For others still, the draw is Kingfisher’s cast, funny and humane.
