Our view

The third Gentleman Bastard book finally brings Sabetha on stage, and some readers call it the most enjoyable volume so far. They credit her presence and the flashback scheme that runs alongside the main plot; the light tone and the affection for these thieves are as strong as ever. Others find the story stretched and slower than its predecessors. It is firmly for readers already invested in Locke and Jean, not a place to start.
