Our view

“The Long War” is a novel of ideas more than events, kept alive by its chain of parallel Earths and the ordinary people exploring them. Some readers describe a slow plot with little suspense, and some never warm to the characters. What they like is the invention, the whimsy and the consequences the authors draw from their premise. A sequel for those who liked wandering the first book more than they needed a story.
