Our view

For readers already at home in “The Long Earth”, “The Long Utopia” is a steady fourth volume, strong on ideas and world-building. The consequences of stepping between worlds are thought through with care, and those who liked the earlier books get more of what they liked. Some readers find the series slow and uneventful and its exposition hard going, and others miss Pratchett’s voice in the later volumes.
