Our view
“The Invasion” launches “Animorphs” with a strong, clear idea: friends handed the power to change shape and a war against alien invaders to fight. It is darker and tenser than its young audience might suggest, and the enemy is genuinely frightening. Some adults who return to it say it holds up. Others find this opening volume a bit stiff, weighed down by the work of setting up a long series.
