Our view
“Rhythm of War” is the Stormlight Archive at its most sprawling. Its best quality is the seriousness with which it treats its characters’ mental struggles, which some readers recognise as true to their own. Others feel the cost in momentum and find the canvas too wide, the plot too tangled and the central trio repetitive. At well over a thousand pages, this fourth volume rewards the devoted and tries the patience of the wavering.
