Our view

“Infernal Devices” continues the “Mortal Engines” quartet with a solid third volume, a dark adventure of war and growing up. Some readers take to the young heroine who steps forward here and find the pace and quality equal to the previous book. Others feel that each volume moves further from Tom and Hester, the pair the series began with, and enjoy it a little less for that.
