Our view
The second Dresden Files novel delivers much the same as the first, only a little better: a wizard for hire in present-day Chicago, a murder case, werewolves, and a hero who takes a beating on the way to the answer. It is pulpy entertainment and makes no claim to be more. Readers tend to treat it as a stepping stone, kept going by the promise that the series grows stronger later.
