Best German authors

German authors ranked by the scores readers give their books. German writing spans philosophical fiction and some of the world's most-read children's fantasy: Hermann Hesse's novels of the inner life sit alongside Michael Ende's The Neverending Story and Cornelia Funke's Inkheart. This list orders German authors by how readers rate their books, from modern storytellers to twentieth-century classics.

Ranked by each author’s score — the average of their books’ reader ratings on BookRank. Citizenship data: Wikidata.
