Michael Ende
Michael Ende — 2 titles in the rankings, first published between 1973 and 1979. They average 8.2, above the 7.8 the whole catalogue averages.
Editor’s note German writer, son of the surrealist painter Edgar Ende, who first found success with Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver (1960). Momo (1973), about grey men who steal people’s time, and The Neverending Story (1979), whose original edition is printed in red and green ink for its two worlds, are the books to start with. Ende so disliked the 1984 film of The Neverending Story that he tried to have his name removed from it.
