“Waybound” gives the twelve-volume Cradle series the tidy, full-hearted ending its long build-up called for. Lindon’s war against the mightiest powers of his world leaves few threads loose, and the humour of the earlier books survives beside the battles. Some readers who came this far describe parting from the characters as a wrench. Nothing here is meant for newcomers, who should start at the first volume.
