Our view

“The Summons” takes Grisham out of the courtroom and into a family mystery, with a protagonist who gets things wrong. Some readers welcome that after the all-knowing, always-winning heroes of his other novels, though they feel the middle goes round in circles while answers are withheld. Others find little substance in it. It reads easily and entertains.
