Our view

“The City of Mirrors” brings “The Passage” trilogy to a gripping, assured close that rewards readers who have come the whole way. At nearly seven hundred pages it is an epic of survival after the end of the world, tense yet finally hopeful. Some readers are unhappy with where certain characters are left, and find the distant future the book imagines oddly similar to our own present. The two earlier novels are needed first.
